Gmmco's rebuild facilities play a crucial role in achieving our sustainability goals. From conserving resources to reducing waste, sustainable operations are our path to a better future.

Our environmental, social, and economic sustainability goals are aligned with a vision to create a planet we can all be proud of.

Our efforts to protect natural resources centre around rebuilding, reusing, recovering, and recycling at every opportunity. These practices make Gmmco an essential player in transitioning to a circular economy.

Rebuilding for Resource Conservation

One of the first steps we take towards sustainability is rebuilding machine and components, which reduces the need for new production. Our advanced workshops specialise in remanufacturing and repairing, so we rebuild and extend the life of existing machine components.

This approach brings multiple benefits:

  • It conserves minerals and metals by reducing the need for new parts and materials.

  • It minimises waste generation and saves energy otherwise spent in production.

  • It reduces environmental pollution while lowering operational costs through energy savings.

  • It ensures compliance with regulatory standards, global sustainability goals, and recycling regulations.

  • Most importantly, it significantly reduces our environmental footprint.

Smart Waste and Water Management

  • We utilise Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) and Sewage Water Treatment Plants (STPs) to recycle water for cleaning and plantation use.

  • We harvest rainwater through storage reservoirs and groundwater recharge wells.

  • And we also safely dispose of hazardous waste, such as waste oil and grease, through government-approved agencies to prevent land contamination.

Minimising Carbon Footprint with Energy Efficiency

It is common knowledge that it takes a lot of energy to produce new machines, and there are significant CO₂ emissions generated in the process. So, at Gmmco, we work differently by focusing on rebuilding and refurbishing wherever necessary.

And our primary strategies are:

  • Energy Efficiency Upgrades: We upgrade existing older machines with energy-efficient technology. For instance, we rebuild a 2021 BS2-certified HM Loader with a BS4-certified engine to significantly lower emissions while enhancing performance.

  • Operational Strategies: In the rebuilding domain, we also utilise renewable energy through a 500 kW solar power capacity. This helps us reduce our carbon footprint by 500 tons of CO₂ annually, which is equivalent to saving 18,000 trees!

Circular Thinking for Responsible Business

Our rebuilding centres follow responsible business principles, finding the perfect balance between profitability and sustainability.

Our commitments include:

  • Circular Economy: Minimising waste and manufacturing needs and extending machine life through rebuilds and refurbishments.

  • Resource Efficiency: Utilising sustainable materials and energy-efficient processes.

  • Waste Reduction: Implementing recycling programmes and striving for zero-waste practices.

  • Emissions Control: Adopting low-carbon technologies and closely monitoring emissions.

Building Inclusive Growth

At Gmmco, sustainability is more than the environment because it also refers to providing opportunities to all. And in this context, we don't mean only hiring. We follow a systematic process that fosters an inclusive work environment by adhering to ethical practices.

To achieve this, we:

  • Prioritise local hiring and diversity, especially from marginalised backgrounds.

  • Provide equal access to training programmes focusing on empowering women in machine and component repair.

  • Employ 13% women among our 250+ workshop staff, helping build a workplace culture that reflects the communities we serve. Planning to increase the women employee contribution.

  • Equip every individual with relevant skills training to promote social inclusion and diversity as well as reduce unemployment.

Gmmco's vision of sustainability is realised through our sustainable practices. Much like the hydraulic pump precisely powers the heavy arm of an excavator, our rebuild initiatives power Gmmco's role in building a greener, more inclusive future.

Each deliberate choice we make, each rebuilding we do, brings us closer to a better tomorrow—one step at a time.
