It also supports high-voltage DG testing through dedicated compact substation infrastructure, medium-voltage panels and protection systems. Automated monitoring, CCTV surveillance, real-time data logging, power quality analysers, temperature data loggers and vibration sensors provide detailed insights into performance, safety and reliability. This testing backbone ensures every solution is validated before deployment, reducing site-level risks and improving customer confidence. End customers increasingly demand witness tests and validation tests, and GMMCO is well-equipped to support these requirements.

Gmmco Marine’s role in the Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) project for the Indian Navy

 is a case in point. To meet the shipyard’s requirement for a Propulsion System Supplier and Integrator (PSS&I), Gmmco delivered fully integrated propulsion and power solutions, including high-capacity Cat® DG sets of 2000 ekW and 3000 ekW units.

The project required adherence to stringent standards such as DEFSTAND, MIL standards, EMI/EMC compliance in line with applicable MIL standards, JSS55555 and Navy policy letters for stringent transient performance of diesel alternators—underscoring the level of engineering precision and execution discipline required. Leveraging Caterpillar’s proven technology, the propulsion system was fully designed, integrated and engineered in-house.

Subsequent engagements across projects such as Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPVs), Cadet Training Ships (CTSs), Retrofit projects for the Navy frigate and Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs)

 further reinforce a broader shift from vendors supplying components to partners owning system-level outcomes.

Expansion in Tier I and Tier II cities – including office spaces and residential developments – has further strengthened demand. Industries such as automobiles, food and beverage, hospitality and pharmaceuticals continue to grow steadily, sustaining generator requirements.

A major growth driver in recent years has been the rapid expansion of data centres. With increasing AI-driven computing loads, demand for high-capacity backup power systems has risen sharply, particularly in the 1.8 MW and above range. Earlier, co-location data centres typically required gensets in the 1.8–2 MW range per unit. Today, with higher computing loads and premium real-estate considerations, requirements have shifted toward 2.5 MW and above. The data-centre sector is witnessing over 20% year-on-year growth and is expected to remain a key driver for large gensets. In this segment, timely delivery, execution excellence and localised supply chains will be critical. The emergence of Edge Data Centres in Tier II and Tier III cities – serving sectors such as banking and financial services – is further expanding demand.
